Family Support & Community Outreach

NSSA is dedicated to developing and providing resources that support the autism community.  We offer a variety of outreach programs to individuals and families touched by autism.  These programs include:

A classroom and family at an amusement park
  • 8-week Parent Workshop Series – open to the general public at a nominal fee, this eight-week training program is designed to inform and empower family members to maximize the potential of their loved one. The curriculum encompasses core training in the science of applied behavior analysis and its application for, and effectiveness in, improving outcomes for individuals with autism. Workshops are held twice annually during evening hours and each session runs for two hours.  For more information call 631-462-0386.
  • A Special Night For Our Special Kids at Adventureland. This event is hosted by NSSA each spring and fall and is open to individuals and family members with special needs.  The park is closed to the public for this event, providing a safe and supportive environment for all. With minimized wait times, low crowd levels, and a variety of other accommodations, families can enjoy an evening of fun in a relaxed atmosphere without the anxiety and challenges that typically arise when visiting an amusement park with their child.  Dates of upcoming events are posted on NSSA’s website and social media platforms.
  • Monthly Visitors Days at NSSA. On the 4th Wednesday of each month NSSA opens its doors to parents and professionals looking to learn more about autism and NSSA’s programs.  Registration is required – please call 631-462-0386 to register for an upcoming Visitors Day.
